Adventure Awaits Us At Home

Pirates of the Caribbean DIY Couples Theme

Today we will be sharing one of my favorite themes at home. Welcome to our version of a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. This was one of two that we did over Halloween weekend 2020. Because the first of the two the night before (Beauty and the Beast Рcoming soon!) was really all about the costumes, d̩cor and of course pictures, I decided on this theme. I wanted to lighten it up a little for my husband since he puts up all of this and have a fun date night.

Although I try to use items we already have, in this case I had to buy a few things. But even so, I prefer to make our own costumes rather than buy premade. Oh, and by make I mean pull together with different pieces because I do not sew. Also, I am not creative with altering in any way. I also try to reuse pieces for other themes.

Check out our YouTube video.

First we will check out my husband’s costume because he is why this theme was my favorite! He wore a ruffled white shirt, black baggy pants, boots with covers along with big belts. And the best pieces that pulled it all together, the pirate hat and Caribbean style wig!

He makes a cool Jack Sparrow! That is why he was the hit of the theme.

Now we will see my costume.  It was a red and black gothic style skirt (that I thought worked well for a pirate), white puffy sleeved shirt, boots, red scarf and a lot of jewelry. I also did dark makeup for a smokey eye look with red lipstick. I was happy with how it turned out.

Decorating was fun with this theme. I was going for a romantic evening by candlelight as if on a deserted Caribbean Island. I kept to a red and black color scheme because that’s what comes to mind when I think pirates! So, to add to the deserted island, we surrounded the room with palm trees, and we can’t forget the flamingos!  Or the rum!!  Also, candles are a must for the right ambience.  Fortunately the decor cost was inexpensive with only needing the black wall, fish net and some shells!

No pirate theme is complete without a pirate ship and treasure chest.  And, the chest was my favorite part of the decor. Also, you can see a similar remake in our Peter Pan theme.

Now on to dinner.  It was delicious. We had jerk chicken (repeat from our Caribbean night) and homemade pineapple fried rice – Yum! And for dessert we had rum balls!  Here are the links: Jerk chicken, fried rice, No bake rum balls

Because we loved these costumes, when we needed a third option for Halloween 2021, we did this again. Yes, we did three, but that wasn’t planned! It was a last minute change of plans.

We hope you enjoyed this adventure!  Don’t miss a theme, click here to subscribe. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
