Adventure Awaits Us At Home

Latin Theme Nights at Home

Hello and welcome to our Latin theme nights at home!  Through the years, my husband and I always enjoyed going out for Cinco de Mayo. However, like so many other occasions, that wasn’t an option for us in 2020.  So we had our own party – at home!

Check out our YouTube Video.

In 2020, with themes still a new thing for us, I decided sort of spur of the moment a couple days prior to throw this little party together. Like our Caribbean theme that started it all, I wanted to help minimize the stress my husband was under and bring him some lightheartedness.

So, last minute equals minimal decorations.  I bought some hanging decorations and paper products and used various colors for our serving pieces.

Although I planned on making dinner, the fun led to takeout instead. So, this night was more about having fun, dancing and of course margaritas!

Then, in June 2020, we had a Salsa night.

Then Salsa under the stars.

Fast forward to Cinco de Mayo 2021.  Although most everything was open again, things still weren’t back to normal.  So we chose to stay home again in 2021.  We had another fun night at home. We also enjoyed margaritas and salsa dancing!

Even our pup wanted in on the fun too!

That night, dinner was homemade shrimp fajitas (adapted from Dinner at the Zoo) Spanish rice, and corn on the cob.

But, the highlight was the homemade (healthier, cheaters version) fried ice cream (adapted from Cooking Classy).  We both loved it, and it was easy to make. This is definitely worth trying yourself.

Similar to the year prior, I did a little bit of decorating. Yes, that is a Cinco de Mayo tree!  (Check back soon for a tree for all occasions” blog.)

A few months later, July 2021, was a Latin Night.  First we enjoyed Happy Hour on the deck with a beautiful sunset, a little snack of chips and salsa and tequila shots (with oranges sprinkled with cinnamon instead of using lemons and salt).

This was followed by yummy margaritas, homemade Mexican casserole (loosely adapted from Sandy’s KitchenI used sour cream and left out the squash) along with crispy green beans (yep, from a bag!) and Spanish rice.  Until now, I forgot all about the fried ice cream.  Looks like we need another Latin Night!

Then we moved down to our backyard oasis to enjoy another night of Latin dancing.  Noticing a pattern here?  Latin style dancing is our favorite form of ballroom dancing.  The night mode and the motion also made for some interesting shots.

Gotta love my GQ man! Plus our pup made a special appearance again!

I hope you enjoyed this combination of adventures at home!  Don’t miss a theme, click here to subscribeYou can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
