Easter Dinner & DIY Decorating Ideas

As of Easter 2021 we were still having holidays at home. And I was still decorating for holidays and themes at this point. So, today I am sharing our Easter decorations and dinner at home.

Decorations

This holiday required another trip to Dollar Tree because I didn’t have many Easter decorations. Here I bought the signs you see around the fireplace and hanging throughout ($5). The eggs on the mantel came from Hobby Lobby. They were about $2. My husband gave me the cute purple bear (or is it a bunny?) years ago along with flowers in the little vase she’s sitting on. They worked well here. On top of the mantle, they are pastel Christmas balls in a vase and a little pop of color with a yellow feather. Then pastel candles along with our white candles finish off the decor and add to the ambiance.

We had Easter baskets and the grass but the little stuffed animals were new from Dollar Tree ($2).  Then I used a bigger vase with more pastel Christmas balls.  We also had flower leis so I added them here. Then I added a few stemless roses to a vase just for a little added color and theme.

If you have been here before, you know I was really into decorating our little tree for various occasions. If you haven’t seen the others, you can check them out here.

This time the tree is decorated with eggs, and I added pastel ribbon. My favorite addition is the cute bunnies (on sticks) that I also found at the Dollar Tree. Pack of 3 for $1! Don’t they look like Peeps?

Although I try to keep the budget small, I wanted to make a little family like I did with the stuffed dog and cat at Christmas and Thanksgiving. I couldn’t resist these big bunnies (that I got with 40% off coupons at CVS)! Then I had to find “a boy.” I found him on another trip to CVS, again using a coupon. So I made out really well. Shop CVS here.

We had one set of bunny ears, I bought the other at the Dollar Tree. On the console, the vases are filled with water, then I added food coloring and floating candles as I’ve done in others. That is an easy, inexpensive way to add a pretty touch!

Dinner & Dessert

Dinner was just the two of us, but we enjoyed! We had what is traditional for us, a honey baked ham. We also had my favorite of all the Easter food – my mother’s macaroni salad! Sorry no recipe to share. We tease her and say it’s a secret recipe because none of us have it. But, the real reason is that she’s been making for so long, she doesn’t use a recipe! Then we added in mashed potatoes, corn and crescent rolls.

Easter dinner

Dessert was leftover nut roll that we froze at Christmas. Although I searched and searched, I couldn’t find a photo of the whole roll at the time of writing the Christmas blog. But I have since found photos of pieces at least.

Then we added cinnamon ice cream and jelly beans!

Colorful Ambiance

The table was set with the casual but colorful plates and bowls that I bought for the Mardi Gras theme and added our place mats, cups and napkins.

This was our 10th Easter together, but our first time doing Easter photos!  I love our cherry blossom and the white flowering trees this time of the year!

  1. You’re making me ready for Easter! We usually have dinner with the family. I like the tree with the eggs idea, it makes it more festive.

I do love the decorating ideas. I was going to look at decorating a tree but the one I had didn’t last very long indoors. Ooops. The stuffed animals are cute!

Oh wow there are some really lovely decorating ideas here for sure. I love what you have done with the fireplace x

  4. First of all let me start off by saying, “Happy Easter” to you and your family! Easter is always a wonderful time for us too as my wife loves to decorate with pastels like you have done. It was kind of a bummer that you dont have a recipe for your mother’s macaroni salad cause I have to say that it sounds awesome mixed in with all the other dishes & desserts.

  5. Based on tradition, easter as Catholic means Jesus has risen and we celebrate it always in a beach! Time to relax and be with family it is! Thanks for sharing yours, hope everyone has a blessed one this year!

  6. This is the most adorable thing I’ve seen today. The arrangement, color scheme, and décor are all fantastic! And the fur babies seems to like them too!

  7. Aww, your fur babies are cute with the easter decoration. Great ideas, I bet that people will get inspired by these terrific ideas!

  8. You enjoyed your dinner because you had it with someone you love. And I hope no one comes over on Easter, I’ll have a hectic week so I won’t have the energy to make a meal for a lot of people. Lol.
